Limba is a hand-crafted lounge chair made entirely from Black Limba hardwood. Its extended back legs and suspended backrest give it a bold, confident stance that draws attention without overwhelming a space.
The chair was designed with comfort in mind, using measured seat and back angles that support the body naturally without the need for cushions. A waterfall front edge and wide, wrapping arms provide additional comfort and encourage long periods of use. Limba balances bold design with everyday usability.
Skills:
Wood working, User testing
Limba took shape early in the ideation phase, evolving through sketches that explored form and movement.
Ergonomics Testing
By utilizing a cardboard model and an ergonomics box, I was able to refine the backrest and seat angles, ensuring optimal comfort before committing to the final construction. This hands-on testing allowed me to make informed design adjustments that helped aesthetics and user experience.
